Her childhood was a turbulent one. As a toddler the mother of her fled from an abusive relationship. Her mother returned in 1995 into her life, and she took complete custody. However it did not work out as planned. Pickler went back to her parents when she was 12. The grandparents helped her through to adulthood. Pickler needed to look after of her siblings without her parents. Pickler said she was not able to devote time to studying, she began learning how to cook and clean at an early stage.
